This protein red velvet cake is my go-to meal prep dessert. Each serving (half the cake) has 18g of protein, 6g of fiber, and no added sugar for 171 calories. It’s flourless, and it mixes up in one bowl.

I’ll tell you right now that I hate beets. I wanted to play around with beet powder anyway, and you can’t taste it. The cocoa and vanilla protein powder cover it completely, so you get a soft, chocolatey protein red velvet cake with that classic red color. If you’re a beet skeptic like me, this one is for you.

I have three 6-inch pans, so I bake a few at a time and keep them in the fridge. Then I eat half of one after an afternoon workout. Each cake is two servings, which means one batch covers a few days of post-workout desserts. My kids love this protein red velvet cake too.

Want even more protein? Top it with vanilla Greek yogurt. A small peel-off cup is the easiest way to measure it, and it adds roughly 17 to 30g of protein depending on the brand. Ratio (25g) and Oikos Pro (20g) are my two favorites right now. The macros below are for the cake only, so just add whatever your cup says on the label. I love it both ways. Try them both and see which you like more.
