Most low calorie oatmeal jam bars recipes clock in around 240 calories per bar — loaded with brown sugar and butter. These come in at 170 calories with 5g of fiber, and they still taste like real dessert.

The trick is monkfruit sweetener instead of brown sugar and light butter instead of the full-fat version. You don’t lose the buttery crumble or the warm spice — you just lose the calories you weren’t going to miss anyway.

The base is a spiced oat crumble pressed into the pan, baked until golden, then topped with a thick layer of sugar-free jam and more crumble scattered over the top. Cinnamon and allspice run through the whole thing. They come out of the oven smelling like something that took way more effort than it did.

I also make an even lighter version — my High Fiber Oat Bars — that I prep weekly for everyday snacking. These are the ones I make when I want something that actually feels like a treat.

Low Calorie Oatmeal Jam Bars

7g of fiber per bar

30 minutes to make

9 ingredients

Makes 12 bars

Ingredients

Crumble Base & Topping

140g light butter, melted (about 10 tbsp — I use Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter)

96g golden monkfruit sweetener (1/2 cup)

1 tsp vanilla extract

150g all-purpose flour (1 1/4 cups)

90g old fashioned oats (about 1 cup)

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground allspice

Filling

1 cup sugar-free jam (raspberry or blackberry work best)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8×8 baking pan with olive oil spray.
  • Whisk melted butter, monkfruit, and vanilla together in a large bowl.
  • Add flour, oats, salt, cinnamon, and allspice. Stir with a spoon until combined — you can also use your hands to work it into a crumble.
  • Reserve 1/2 cup of the crumble mixture for topping. Press the remaining mixture firmly into the prepared pan. A spatula helps get it even.
  • Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes.
  • Spread jam evenly over the hot crust, then scatter the reserved crumble on top.
  • Bake another 25-30 minutes until the topping is golden.
  • Let cool completely before slicing into 12 bars.
